ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

As an Impact Invests MBA Intern reporting to the Associate Director of Impact Investments, you will play a crucial role in supporting our investment team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of finance and social impact, contributing to projects that drive positive change while developing your skills in investment analysis.

This is a seasonal, fulltime internship (40 hours per week) running a minimum of eight weeks between June and August 2026, depending on your academic program’s end date and internship requirements. The role follows a hybrid schedule with three in-person days each week at the FMC Tower in University City, Philadelphia, with the remaining time worked remotely. This role reports to the Associate Director of Impact Investments.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

Support ongoing pipeline management by conducting initial screens and assessing prospective investment opportunities, including market fit, impact alignment, and financial feasibility
Perform targeted research on sectors, business models, and impact themes relevant to prospective deals
Participate in meetings with industry professionals across the impact investing ecosystem, including fund managers, entrepreneurs, philanthropic partners, and advisors
Participate in conversations with partners and other external parties, and contribute thoughtful questions and observations
Lead an independent project that advances a strategic priority for the investment team (previous year’s projects listed below)
Develop and deliver a formal presentation to the Investment Committee and internal staff at the conclusion of the internship

SAMPLE PROJECTS

The final scope of the internship projects will be tailored based on the skillsets and learning goals of the selected applicants and the highest priority needs for the SPP investment team. The examples listed below frame potential projects.

Develop a Responsible AI Investment Policy: Conduct market research on ethical and impact driven AI investing best practices. Leveraging these findings, support the investment team by developing a policy statement and diligence screen for new potential investments
Support the Organization’s Impact Management: Collaborate with the Learning & Data team to update and streamline the current impact measurement and management (IMM) approach, gather and analyze data on the SPP portfolio, and present results to the investment team
Create a 10 year Deployment and Pacing Financial Model: Create a financial model that projects the organization deployment and return goals over the next decade.
Community Wealth Building Policy Change Landscape: Conduct market research to identify policy pipeline and bottlenecks impacting community wealth building subsectors and collaborate with the Investments and Grants teams to surface potential leverage points for investment and philanthropic capital support.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Academic Excellence: Currently enrolled in an MBA or MPA program with a strong academic record.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to build detailed financial models and prepare clear summaries and visuals
Relevant Experience: Previous professional experience demonstrating analytical, financial, research, or investment-related skills. Experience in investing, finance, consulting, philanthropy, community development, or a related field is preferred.
