Part-Time (20 hours per week) Internship Opportunity Available For Two Students
at Spring Point Partners Beginning February through May 2025


Spring Point Partners is a Philadelphia-based impact organization, with a dedicated investment team. The overarching investment thesis is to increase the ownership of future growth markets among a diverse and representative set of leaders, leading to more equitable wealth distribution as well as improved self-determination and opportunity for all Americans.

About the Position

As an Impact Investing Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting our investment team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of finance and social impact, contributing to projects that drive positive change while developing your skills in investment analysis and strategic planning.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) paid internship, with a hybrid schedule of one to two days a week (Tu, W, Th) at the Philadelphia office (located in University City) or occasional other locations in the City, and the other times virtual, with flexibility to work within academic schedules. This internship is projected to run from Feb-May 2025 and reports to the Associate Director of Impact Investments.

The final scope of the internship and detailed roles and responsibilities will be tailored based on the skillsets and learning goals of the selected applicants, and the highest priority needs for the SPP Investment Team.

SAMPLE PROJECTS 

  1. Determining Indirect Exposure within Funds Portfolio:
    • Assess the indirect exposure and areas of concentration of SPP’s venture capital portfolio to the underlying portfolio companies and sectors represented in the organization’s fund investments.
    • Develop models and frameworks to quantify the indirect exposure per company and areas of sector concentration and/or areas for diversification.
  2. VC/PE Emerging Manager1 Ecosystem Mapping:
    • Create detailed maps of the business ecosystem, identifying key players and their relationships.
    • Analyze the ecosystem supporting emerging managers to identify opportunities for partnership and potential gaps (e.g. in research, resources, networks).
    • Provide recommendations on where SPP should prioritize relationship building and visibility to best support and access aligned fund managers.
  3. Support the Organization’s Impact Management:
    • Update and streamline current impact measurement and management (IMM) approach, gather and analyze data on portfolio subset, and present results to investment team.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Academic Excellence: Currently enrolled in an MBA or MPA program with a strong academic record
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint

  • Relevant Experience: Previous work experience at an investment fund, investment advisor, endowment, or related entity with a focus on alternative investments.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead projects or teams
  • Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Financial Statements: ability to analyze organizational financial statements
